On June 2, the Kiwanis Club of Scripps Ranch was pleased to have Jessica Woodyard, the Vice President of Development from Junior Achievement speak to the club about this amazing organization and what it has been doing for our kids over the last 75 years.
Junior Achievement of San Diego empowers young people to achieve economic mobility through immersive, real-world learning experiences that connect classroom education to future careers. JA programs inspire students to value their education, plan for their futures, and develop an understanding of work and life in the global economy. By building these essential skills early, JA helps prepare students for lifelong success and self-sufficiency.
Students do a significant amount of prework to understand their skills and have mock interviews for their jobs. When they arrive at Junior Achivement’s lab they get to play out a simulation of working in a mock city with all the challenges of succeeding. If you have never heard of this fantastic organization and have a child in school, you should definately check them out at Junior Achievement of San Diego. Better yet, arrange a visit to their facility and even consider volunteering for a day there. Their website lists days and times and positions they need help with.

Her teacher, Ms. Walker, shared during the award presentation how Alanna is a responible and helpful student who volunteers her lunch time to work with the TK students. She also comes early or stays late to work with the schools safety patrol team.
